Kazakh-Born Volunteer Dies In Ukraine — Kazakh Community In Kharkiv

Marlen Moldiraim died on November 13, 2025. By that time, he already held citizenship of another country, Orda.kz reports.

Makka Karazhanova, head of the Kazakh community in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, shared the news on her  Facebook page. The post suggests that Marlen fought for Ukraine.

She did not disclose the circumstances of his death, explaining that this is the rule, but she did provide details about Marlen himself.

Marlen came to Ukraine voluntarily, following his heart, leaving behind a safe and secure life. Upon his arrival, he was no longer a citizen of Kazakhstan but held the citizenship of another country,
 Karazhanova wrote.

Marlen Moldiraim spoke several languages, was an entrepreneur, and held a law degree.

Karazhanova noted that the soldier did not hide the difficult conditions at the front. When asked whether he wanted to return to a normal life, he replied that he had chosen this path himself and would leave “only as a winner or feet first.”

Kazakhstanis have already found familiar names among those killed in the war in Ukraine. One woman from Oral, for example, learned of her husband’s death.

Earlier, Orda.kz attempted to determine where citizens of Kazakhstan who fought on the Russian side had died.
