Court Keeps Former AV Construction Director Under House Arrest

The Medeu District Court of Almaty has decided that Olga Abdygapparova, former head of AV Construction LLC, will remain under house arrest, Orda.kz reports.
At a previous hearing, Abdygapparova’s lawyer, Nurybek Sabitov, petitioned to change the preventive measure, arguing that “extending arrest periods retroactively is unconstitutional.” The prosecutor objected, citing the seriousness of the charges.
Abdygapparova’s trial began in July. She faces seven counts of embezzlement and abuse of authority at AV Construction. The case also involves Timur Tanashev and Dastan Abizhanov — members of Yeldos Kospayev’s organized crime group, previously convicted of corporate raiding.
They also filed a civil suit against her.
Earlier, the court rejected a motion from Tanashev and Abizhanov’s lawyers seeking to have them recognized as victims in the case.
Abdygapparova’s defense plans to appeal the court’s latest decision. Her husband has been serving a four-year sentence in connection with the Esentai City case.
