The Biden administration is reportedly preparing to launch new sanctions against vessels transporting Russian oil sold above the Western price cap of $60 per barrel, Reuters reports.

According to agency sources, these measures will be implemented before the presidential transition.

It's a very substantial package. Two Russian oil companies, more than 100 tankers, oil traders, Russian insurance companies etc, one source told Reuters without disclosing entities' names.

The report comes amid uncertainties about how Trump will handle sanctions on Russia.
