Tiraspoltransgaz has notified Moldovagaz of its acceptance of gas supplies from Moldova, with guaranteed payment assurance, according to Vadim Krasnoselsky, leader of the unrecognized republic, Orda reports, citing the official's Telegram.
The announcement, made during an operational headquarters meeting, confirmed that the notification was sent on January 18.
The decision was made to restore heat and electricity to Transnistrian residents and social institutions urgently.
Krasnoselsky addressed political speculation surrounding the agreement, stating:
Everyone is trying to squeeze out maximum dividends, talking about certain geopolitics, thinking about secret conspiracies.
He emphasized that "there is no conspiracy," but rather "cold apartments where people live," and urged politicians to "stop playing politics where it's not needed and give people heat."
This development follows Moldovan President Maia Sandu's January 19 statement claiming that supplying Transnistria with gas purchased from European markets with Russian assistance would violate Western sanctions.
Sandu suggested that Gazprom, as Moldovagaz's majority shareholder, could instead "organize legal supplies" through the company.
