Kazakh President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev called the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump a “historic event” that paved the way for top-level talks on Ukraine, Orda.kz reports.
According to Toqayev, the summit was made possible by the political will of the Russian and U.S. leaders and their desire “to find common approaches to resolving key problems of our time.”
He stressed that the central focus of the dialogue was ending hostilities in Ukraine, expressing hope that the agreements reached would lay the groundwork for a future peace process.
The Putin–Trump meeting took place on August 15 in Alaska in a “three-on-three” format and lasted two hours and 45 minutes.
Following the talks, the U.S. president gave an interview to Fox News.
