Russia believes the nominated leaders have contributed to global security and multipolarity, Orda.kz reports.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov have been nominated for the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize.

The nomination was initiated by the Russian Peace Foundation.

The leaders of the three countries have made a significant contribution to ensuring universal and equal security, promoting a multipolar world, and strengthening international cooperation,
said Leonid Slutsky, Chair of the Foundation’s Board.

The key reason for the nomination was the first trilateral summit held in Khujand on March 31, 2025. During the summit, the presidents signed two important documents: a treaty on the tri-border point between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, and the Khujand Declaration of Eternal Friendship.

According to Slutsky, these agreements support regional stability, the development of a visa-free space, and enhanced dialogue across Eurasia.

The Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize is an international award recognizing efforts in peacebuilding, promotion of international law, and opposition to the threat of a new world war. Last year, the African Union received the prize.

The jury includes public figures from BRICS, the SCO, and the G20, among them Pierre de Gaulle (France), Lindiwe Sisulu (South Africa), and Liu Wenfei (China).
