Defense Minister Explains Measures After Recent Debris Resembling Drone Findings

Defense Minister Dauren Kosanov described the steps the Armed Forces are taking after several drones were found downed in Kazakhstan, Orda.kz reports.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Senate on November 20, he was asked how the military plans to protect the country’s airspace following the discovery of multiple wrecks involving objects resembling drones.

We took preventative measures. We created mobile air defense groups and deployed helicopters and fighter jets. We also established operational communications with neighboring states,
 Kosanov said.

These are incoming drones from countries at war; they enter our territory because of the impact of electronic warfare systems. Drones also crash in Poland, Moldova, Hungary, and the Baltic states,
 the minister added.

On October 23, an aircraft exploded in the Burlin district of West Kazakhstan Region, where drone wreckage with Ukrainian inscriptions was found.

Earlier this year, debris resembling a drone was also discovered in June in the Mangystau Region and near Atyrau.
