This recognition means that Tazys can now participate in international exhibitions under Kazakhstan’s flag as an independent breed, Orda.kz reports.

According to the Ministry of Ecology, over the past three years, the Kazakhstan Cynologist Union became a full member of the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), submitted an official application, and received a positive decision from the Federation Bureau.

In 2025, at the prestigious World Dog Show in Helsinki, Kazakh Tazys were presented for the first time as an independent breed.

The dogs earned top marks — five of the eight participants won prizes.

Lashyn and Aru were crowned World Champions, while Tamerlan became Junior Champion. Kokserek and Pana received runner-up titles. Lashyn and Aru also won Finnish Champion honors.

Kazakhstan currently holds the official breed standard. Full recognition is expected by 2034, provided the breed continues to compete internationally and grow in population.

Incidentally, President Qasym-Jomart Toqayev owns three purebred Tazys — Nauryz, Ronnie, and Nancy. Footage of the president receiving puppy Nauryz was first published in 2023.

We were able to add our treasure — the Tazy — to the international registry. Now the whole world knows that this is a Kazakh breed of hunting dog, distinguished by its absolutely amazing qualities,
 Toqayev said two years ago.

A year later, Toqayev presented two young Tazys — Jules and Jeanne — to French President Emmanuel Macron.

The two leaders were later seen walking with them through the gardens of the Élysée Palace.

Earlier, Senator Bibigul Zheksenbay proposed restricting the export of Tazy dogs abroad and banning crossbreeding with other breeds to preserve the gene pool.

She also suggested moving Tazy and Tobet Day to early November to coincide with the start of the hunting season.
